Model and entrepreneur Miranda Kerr doesn’t let stress keep her down.

The Australian mother of three is busy with family life and her role as founder and CEO of beauty brand KORA Organics.  She de-stresses with regular meditation and yoga to help her “stay calm and centered.”

She also loves to unwind by cooking, drinking wine and dancing around the kitchen.

Stress reduction

Kerr loves massages and Reiki gentle healing treatments, which work on different levels: the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, helping balance the mind and body.

“One of the biggest benefits I find in Reiki is the reduction of stress. Stress impacts the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system) and our overall health,” she says. “After a Reiki treatment, I also sleep better.  It’s a great way to release tension, help clear emotional blockages and impart a wonderful sense of relaxation.”

Throughout her day, the model uses calming aromatherapy and essential oils, such as rose otto to open her heart and mind, sandalwood for calmness, ylang ylang aids for stress and anxiety relief, and cedar wood to sooth her mind, helping with mental focus and vitality.

Positive mindset

Time spent outdoors, like a walk or a swim in the ocean, helps Kerr manage stress. Regular yoga helps her maintain “a positive mindset and balance in the (often) chaotic world we live in.” She meditates at least three times a day. “In the morning it helps me to set my intention for the day, so I start the day with a positive mindset,” she says. “During the day it helps me re-center and refocus so I can best navigate through any challenges. At night, it’s great to let go of the day and unwind for a deep, restful sleep.”

Her favorite way to relax is “switching off my phone and just being present” with her husband and children.

Kerr says parents and children can meditate and do yoga as a family activity and as a time to connect. Give kids tools to cope with emotions.

“Encourage them to take three deep belly breaths if they are feeling overwhelmed and encourage open discussion about how they are feeling and their emotions,” she says.
