Since 1951, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) has focused on quality dental implant education to ensure patients receive the best care possible, as well as finding ways to provide this care.
The science behind placing implants changes continuously, and the AAID consistently works to keep current on the latest research and best practices. As the premier organization for implant dentistry education, our goal is to share current and relevant information with the entire profession.
Our credentialing program builds a knowledge base of basic science, dentistry principles, and the ability to apply these principles in a clinical setting. It encourages confidence for both the practitioner who provides treatment, as well as for their patients.
Certified excellence
AAID-credentialed dentists invest significant time and energy into dental implant-focused training, above and beyond their basic dental and/or specialist education, in order to achieve the highest standards of competency. They have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dental implants and treatment options; they understand the big picture and are dedicated to putting their patients’ health first.
As the demand for implants continues to grow, the AAID has worked to create a thorough and intensive credentialing program, as well as a consumer awareness campaign to help patients understand the importance of working with a credentialed implant dentist.
Currently one-third of AAID members are credentialed, and we encourage all our members to pursue their AAID credential. For those who wish to substantiate their expertise in implant dentistry through a verifiable credentialing process, earning the Associate Fellow credential is the first step. The Associate Fellow certificate lets your patients know that you are an experienced and credentialed implant professional.
Fellow is a special step in validating your expertise and proficiency in implant dentistry. To qualify for the Fellow examination, applicants must be Associate Fellows in good standing, be fully knowledgeable of both the surgical and restorative phases of implant dentistry, and meet the published educational and experiential requirements. They must also meet the professional and leadership credential requirements specified in the Requirements for Fellow Membership.
