How Pregnancy Changed Star Couple Alexa and Carlos PenaVega’s Life
Education & Research The Hollywood entertainers and parents are over the moon about welcoming their baby boy.
When Alexa and Carlos PenaVega learned they were expecting a child, the first emotion was joyful surprise. Alexa says, “More than anything, it was surreal. We had been trying, and when we finally had that test that said ‘pregnant,’ all I could do was scream Los’ name.”
What will be, will be
The PenaVegas had been trying to get pregnant for about a year, and Alexa says they were determined to minimize the pressure many couples feel when it comes to getting pregnant. “We women put a lot of pressure on ourselves, and if it doesn’t happen right away we feel guilty or like something is wrong with us. We just put it in God’s hands and, sure enough, it happened.”
“Your body is going through so many changes. But it doesn’t really hit you until you start feeling your baby move.”
The ups (and downs) of pregnancy
Alexa says pregnancy was a wonderful experience, though she struggled with nearly constant nausea and fatigue in her first trimester. Overall, her excitement outweighed the symptoms, and once she reached her second trimester, her energy came back, and she felt less nauseous and was able to enjoy pregnancy.
In August, Alexa and Carlos learned they’re having a boy. Above all, Alexa says she loves feeling her son move. “Your body is going through so many changes. But it doesn’t really hit you until you start feeling your baby move. That connection is so special and unlike anything you will ever experience.”
For his part, Carlos says he is thrilled to be on the journey with Alexa and suggests to all expectant spouses, “’Yes’ is the answer to anything she needs.”
The greatest blessing
Alexa and Carlos welcomed Ocean King PenaVega in December 2016 and are already in love. Alexa says Ocean's birth has brought a deeper meaning to a relationship she already adores. “To be able to meet this little boy that we created together is the most exciting adventure we could’ve ever taken together.”
